This is one of the most beautiful vintage finds we have had for a while, owned from new in 1961 by an RAF pilot stationed in the UK, this extremely rare reference 2996-4 is distinguishable by its centre seconds, alpha handset (non broad arrow) and the most untouched dial and case we have seen, with SPECTACULAR patina.. Possibly the nicest i've personally seen.
The matte black dial is in flawless condition under that plexi, we have decided to leave the plexiglass totally as found with battle scars from use, however, this can be swapped out to a newer replacement if desired. In our opinion it really gives the watch it's character as a collectors piece.
The case is 36mm approx excluding crown and features the original bowler style crown.
The Ranchero is already a rare in this condition, but seldom do we see them with the centre seconds dial and from the original owner with the RAF stationed out of the south of the UK with F.A Brown and issue number. Purchased from the widow if the original owner.
The watch is running at +1-2 secs and has a 245 amplitude. The bracelet came on the watch, but is generic.
A true collectors dream.
