A superb and very rare 1961 Omega Seamaster Calendar reference 2849-1 in stainless steel with incredible original GILT black dial with applied solid 18k hour markers and dauphine hands.
The watch case is extremely honest and shows it's wear and has visible facets on the lug edges.
There is a name engraved on the caseback around the Seamaster Hippocampus, reading "L. H. Jamieson", and the numbers 462997 which was typically found on RAF issued Seamaster 30's for the far east. It was probably engraved on this watch by the pilot, so potentially it could of been worn in the Air Force by said Pilot who needed it blend in with the machinary night sky, a black dial was almost always a military colour of choice, but with the luminous legibility to read by night. A very interesting aspect to the watch making it more special.
The movement is a caliber 503 automatic and has just been fully overhauled.
You hardly ever see original black dial Seamaster Calendars, there are mostly refinished dials online so it is with great pleasure we can present you with this beauty. A true collectable gem.
