A rare and wonderfully preserved example of a 1966 Rolex explorer 1016 with tropical 'Bordeaux' open gilt chapter ring dial.
The dial and luminous have preserved in incredible condition, and has taken on a deep blood red 'Bordeaux' tropical under the sun and still remains glossy with only light age.
The case is nice and thick and has only light marks from wear. Crown is tight and screws down perfectly.
The most appealing quality to this amazing Explorer is the unique way it adapts to each tilt of the wrist and every different light source, forever evolving and changing to deep oxblood, brown, and varying degrees of apricot-pumpkin coloured tritium.
Explorers are some of the most coveted and iconic vintage watches out there. It is clear to see when you see such examples in such condition.
Grab them while you can.
