During the 50s up until the 80s Rolex has many dials with logo insignas for specific purposes like the Arab markets, the logo dials were special order dials and had specific details and design traits and were gifts for thei best customers. The UAE Armed Forces dials were gifted to Government officials for the United Arab Emirates.
The 6264 Oysterdate is a classic in the Rolex repertoire, and this example is fresh to market from the original owners collection and looks in crisp condition, sharp brushed lugs and stunning champagne dial and applied constrasting gold hour batons, and the rich UAE Armed Forces logo (Eagle) displayed above the 6-hour position, the colour combination was specifically for the middle eastern Rolex market.
The watch comes with its original Oyster bracelet with signed Rolex logo clasp.
The fact the watch is stainless steel is interesting because of it being made for the Middle Eastern markets, Islamic law states it is prohibited to wear gold watches, or ornaments on their skin. However, with most of these watches, the gold parts were specifically on the dial part of the watch, which is protected by the case and plexi, which provides an interesting talking point. The gold wasn't external so a man wearing it was not touching gold.
Anyway, this is such a great piece and has interesting features which we love. The dial is only enhanced by the colour combination, and the detail of the Special Armed Forces UAE logo.
The watch is engraved to the caseback and must of been its previous owner whic adds to the history of this great timepiece.
A special, and uncommon Rolex.
